We will contact your insurance provider and determine what is needed to make sure your order is managed appropriately and continues to progress.<\/li>\n<li><b>How can I know if a rehab seating company is qualified?<\/b><br \/>\nQualified companies have Rehab Technology Suppliers (RTSs) on staff who have been certified by the National Registry of Rehabilitation Technology Suppliers (NRRTS) and the Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology Society of North America (RESNA). These seating and mobility professionals must pass rigorous testing and have several years of experience in the industry. Ask the wheelchair providers you are considering for their credentials or contact one of the credentialing agencies<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nrrts.org\/\" data-uw-rm-brl=\"PR\" data-uw-original-href=\"http:\/\/www.nrrts.org\/\"> www.NRRTS.org<\/a> or<a href=\"https:\/\/www.resna.org\/\" data-uw-rm-brl=\"PR\" data-uw-original-href=\"https:\/\/www.resna.org\/\"> www.RESNA.org<\/a> for certification requirements. <\/li>\n<li><b>Is there anything I can do to expedite the process of receiving my equipment?<\/b><br \/>\nYes, you can assist with obtaining the paperwork from your physician and your therapist. As their patient, you can contact them and request that they provide the necessary documentation as quickly as possible. NSM cannot submit for funding without the proper documentation. We work with your physician, nurses and therapists to provide a one-of-a-kind mobility solution customized to your needs and preferences. Because we work in a partnership with your health care team, we require a referral from them in order to be your mobility provider. To help ensure your choice of NSM, you should request that your physician and\/or therapist select us as your provider of choice.<\/li>\n<li><b>How long does it take to get a new power wheelchair from NSM?<\/b><br \/>\nNSM strives to complete each timeline phase as quickly as possible without compromising any step in the process.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nsm-seating.com\/how-it-all-works\/\" data-uw-rm-brl=\"PR\" data-uw-original-href=\"https:\/\/www.nsm-seating.com\/how-it-all-works\/\"> Please refer to this page for the full timeline.<\/a> We appreciate your patience and understanding.<\/li>\n<li><b>Why must I see a doctor to get a wheelchair from NSM?<\/b><br \/>\nOur clients have mobility challenges and are referred to us by therapists and physicians to receive mobility solutions that meets all their unique needs. If you need a wheelchair, your best plan is to talk with your physician or therapist and get a thorough evaluation from a qualified Rehab Technology Supplier (RTS).<\/li>\n<li><b>What if my medical condition changes?<\/b><br \/>\nContact your local NSM branch and notify us of any changes that may affect the proper fit and function of your chair.<\/li>\n<li><b>Are there any dangers in using an off-the-shelf wheelchair?<\/b><br \/>\nDefinitely. A standard or not customized chair can cause more harm than good. People come in all shapes and sizes; their chairs must be designed to fit them. In severe situations, a standard or not customized chair may:\n<ul>\n<li>Cause significant physiological and psychological problems<\/li>\n<li>Lead to an increase in dependence because it&#8217;s not used due to lack of comfort<\/li>\n<li>Cause pressure sores, or decubitus, due to improper cushioning<\/li>\n<li>Become obsolete quickly if not configured to &#8220;grow with the child&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>Become a major expense to replace or reconfigure, because most funding sources will only reimburse for a new chair every five years.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><b>Do I have a choice of which mobility solutions company to use?<\/b><br \/>\nThe choice of a wheeled mobility supplier is yours. Discuss your decision with your physician and therapist.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><b>Accessibility<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li><b>How do I maintain my stair lift?<\/b><br \/>\nThere is little you need to do to maintain your stair lift. However, to keep your stair lift in good working order, it is advisable to keep the rails free from obstruction. Regularly wiping the rails with a dry cloth to remove dust is recommended, although avoid using damp cloths or sprays. Regular servicing will also ensure the smooth running of your stair lift.
